Jefferson County Colorado Fire Leaves One Dead

Despite a “calm” day

Investigators are trying to figure out the cause of death associated with a body found amid the Jefferson County Colorado wildfire.

Jacki Kelley, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, says the Lower North Fork Fire is more than 3,000 acres. 15 to 25 structures have been destroyed by the fire and she went on to tell 9NEWS “at least a handful of homes” were also lost to the flames. The office released statements saying “The Ponderosa Pines will typically burn hot and continuous until they are nothing more than white ash, and added, “Heavy tree canopies combined with high temperatures and a lack of humidity are contributing to the volatile conditions as well.” Over 900 residents have been forced to evacuate.

More resources are being shipped to Jefferson County Colorado and over 100 firemen were there on duty today. The winds this month have made it increasing difficult to combat the flames, but official are hopeful today, due to the milder winds, that air support will be utilized.

“We had crew’s available, aircraft available, so the fire was able to get staffed very quickly,” said Steve Segin, spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service. “But when you have 40 to 50 mph winds, there’s not much you can do. With winds like that, you’re reacting to the fire.” He reported no firefighters had been injured but knows it is day to day and is happy that today it remains “pretty calm.”

The name of the person that allegedly died from the Jefferson County Colorado fire has not been released.

Pink Slime controversy halts production for Beef Incorporated

Consumer complaints of the ground-beef filler dubbed as “pink slime” has led to a slouch in short-term beef demand. Tyson Chief Operating Officer Jim Lochner recently said at an investor presentation that due to the recent upheaval about pink slime “put a fair amount of pressure on ground beef consumption.” He is confident the controversy will only be a “two week event.”

Beef Products Inc. took the brunt of the pink slime attacks early this month. A petition was put forth to remove the product from school lunches and drew hundreds of thousands of signatures this month. Former employees hopped on the social media train and released information about pink slime asserting that the product was responsible for E. coli and other dangerous substances in ground beef.

“We have complete confidence in our raw materials and our testing,” Rich Jochum, a BPI spokesman. Be that as it may, the name pink slime is out and it has tarnished the beef industry. Several retailers, including Kroger and Wal-Mart have said they would offer beef without de-fatted trimmings and McDonald’s halted its production a while ago.

The recent pink slime scare has caused Beef Products Inc to suspend production of plants in Amarillo, Texas; Garden City, Kansas: and Waterloo, Iowa.  Cargill Inc. has estimated about 850 million pounds of the additive are used in ground beef every year and that processors will now have to replace the filler with other cuts of meat, equally approx. 1.5 million cattle per year.

JetBlue Las Vegas Flight 191 Diverted: Video

Mental Breakdown

A JetBlue Las Vegas flight was diverted to Amrillo, TX., Tuesday when the pilot reportedly had a mental breakdown. “Say your prayers,” he said to passengers. The co-pilot made the unscheduled landing in Amarillo, and another off-duty pilot, that happened to be on the plane, took over the co-pilot position.

The “ill crewmember” was taken to a hospital in Northwest Texas for an examination. Passengers on the plane took video and tweeted about the event as it happened. “Our pilot went nuts and we had to land in Amarillo. I saw my life flash before my eyes today,” tweeted passenger Tiffany Lee. Another witness told Fox 5 News, “I saw a guy wearing a pilot’s uniform run down the aisle screaming and yelling and banging on the cockpit door to let him in.” The witness said the man was screaming, “Say your prayers! Say your prayers!”

The flight took off from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. Upon arriving in Amarillo, police spokeswoman declined to comment but said her department is now assisting the FBI on the investigation.

In the video below, passengers can be seen trying to take pictures and videos of the incident, and a crew member can be heard stating, “Please everybody, we don’t need pictures of this. Just stay seated.” The passengers were called into the airport for a short time but were placed on another plane continuing on to Las Vegas. The pilot is unnamed.

Dennis Rodman’s attorney, Linnea Willis, reported to the Los Angeles Times he “is broke and cannot afford any additional fees,” in court papers filed today. She also added that he is “extremely sick.”

He is expected to pay $50,000 a month and Willis said, “It is absolutely untrue that Mr. Rodman failed to pay child or spousal support. Mr. Rodman has always provided support to his family to the best of his ability and will continue to do so.” She went on to say that Michelle Rodman’s lawyer, Jack Kayjanian is putting forth “a smear campaign.”

If unable to make payments the maximum punishment Dennis Rodman could face is 20 years in jail.

Tenacious D: "To Be the Best" video

The duo is back

The rock band Tenacious D announces the release of their latest album, Rize of the Fenix, with a video of the single entitled, To Be the Best. This comes long after their latest project, the 2006 film, The Pick of Destiny, was considered to be an epic fail in the box office.

The video chronicles the climb of Tenacious D back to the top after a few rocky years. Following a nervous breakdown, band mate, Kyle Gass locked himself away for years. He reunites with band mate Jack Black, who is now going by the name Hollywood Jack in order to release the new album.

The video is more of a comedic sketch but of course has the bands music. In standard Tenacious D style, the two have a slew of cameos from famous people who stop by in the video. Josh Groban shows up and even the method actor Val Kilmer takes a bullet that is fired by Gass at Hollywood Jack. The death of Kilmer, according to the video, would spur the reunion and climb of Tenacious D back to the top.

During the rock hiatus, the band had a few books to help keep their name out there, “Blowing F—ing Minds for Idiots” and “Impregnating Ears for Idiots.”

Rize of the Feniz hits stores May 15. See the To Be the Best video below:

Zimmerman: story of alleged murderer is out

Said Trayvon Martin was the aggressor

Slain Florida teenager, Trayvon Martin, and neighborhood watch captain, George Zimmerman, who shot the boy, have been on top of headlines the past few weeks. The Orlando Sentinel released Zimmerman’s account of the story to police, saying Martin punched him in the nose and began banging his head on the ground. Zimmerman said he was in the neighborhood that he regularly patrolled and was on his way back to his vehicle last month when the young man approached him from behind.

According to Zimmerman, following the assault by Trayvon Martin, Zimmerman said he began crying for help. The Martin family believes it was their son who was crying for help but witness accounts of the confrontation are not clear.

Trayvon Martin was allegedly going to the store for skittles and a drink, while on suspension from school for marijuana traces found in his backpack. He did not have a juvenile record. Police released a statement saying Zimmerman’s story was “consistent” with the evidence turned over to the prosecutors.

Rallies nationwide have called for the arrest of George Zimmerman. Civil Rights leader Al Sharpton said Martin’s parents have endured “insults and lies” over reports about their son being the aggressor. The New Black Panther party has place a bount of $10k on George Zimmerman, calling for a citizen’s arrest.

Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, has filed trademark applications for two slogans that are being used with her son’s name: “Justice for Trayvon” and “I am Trayvon.” The trademarks could be used for DVDs and CDs amongst other things. Fulton’s attorney told her in an email the reason for the trademark was for “projects that will assist other families who experience similar tragedies.”

TMZ said police believed he was under the influence of alcohol. Bobby Brown’s arrested titles read, because he was driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher.

Bobby Brown arrested just four days after the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office released the results for the autopsy of Bobby Brown’s ex-wife, Whitney Houston. The Chief Coroner of the case Craig Harvey said Houston had cocaine in her system “in the time period just immediately prior to her collapse in the bathtub at the hotel.” It was determined, the singer Houston, 48, died from an accidental drowning Feb. 11, following a heart episode contributed by cocaine. Their marriage was portrayed in the media with a slew of drug use, domestic allegations and run-ins with the law.

Kim Kardashian to press charges against flour bomber PETA activist Christina Cho

Cho the “superstar activist”

TMZ reported that Kim Kardashian has decided to press charges against the female anti-fur activist who flour bombed her. The bomb was dropped when Kim Kardashian was walking the red carpet for the launch of her new fragrance line True Reflection at the London Hotel in West Hollywood. The report reads that “out of nowhere” a woman with flower bag in hand doused Kim Kardashian on the back and in her hair. She was wearing an all black ensemble.

“That probably is the craziest, unexpected, weird thing that ever happened to me. Like I said to my makeup artist, I wanted more powder and that’s a whole lot of translucent powder right there,” Kardashian told E! News afterwards, making light of the situation.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) reported that the attacker, rather the flour bomber, was Christina Cho, and referred to her as a “PETA member” and “superstar activist.” Christina has even won an award from PETA in 2010 for her dedication to the organization.

PETA spokesmen told Celebuzz, “We don’t believe Kim would be so shortsighted as to go after this woman, but if she does, we’ll definitely look at how to maximize exposure to the cruel fur industry, and that could mean defending the activist if she wishes,” continuing, “How much better it would be if she decided to evolve and enhance her image by donating her vulgar furs and exotic-animal skins to the homeless.”

“[Kardashian] does not feel the woman who threw the flour at her should get away with it and that she should be her accountable for her actions,” TMZ reported Saturday. “We’re told Kim will contact law enforcement in the next few days to tell them she wants to press charges. According to our sources, Kim wants to send the message that people are entitled to their opinion, but should not resort to violence.”

Black Panther Party Bounty and CNN Interview

See what the leader said about Anderson Cooper

The New Black Panther Party has placed a bounty on George Zimmerman’s head.
The Washington Sentinel reported that the leader of the New Black Panther Party, Minister Mikhail Muhammad, was asked by a reporter if he was inciting violence, and Muhammad responded, “An eye for an eye.”

Zimmerman, the alleged murderer of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, has a $10k bounty against him by the New Black Panther Party, calling for a citizen’s arrest. The Sentinel went on to say that the New Black Panther Party called for “the mobilization of 10,000 black men to capture George Zimmerman.”

The leader of the New Black Panther Party, Minister Mikhail Muhammad, went on CNN recently and spoke with Anderson Cooper about what his group is trying to put forth. During the interview, he put stated that Zimmerman is guilty of first degree murder. “He committed murder, he committed a hate crime,” Muhammad said. “We decided to take it upon ourselves and coalition with other groups, with other black people who have had enough.”

Anderson Cooper came back with the actuality of the circumstances, one being, George Zimmerman has not been charged with anything yet, let alone murder, and Cooper also said, “Trayvon’s parents don’t want you.” The argument put forth by Cooper didn’t seem to matter, The leader of the New Black Panther party continued, “We are military, we are here to support Trayvon’s family,” Muhammad later added they weren’t really doing this for Trayvon Martin. “They have killed millions of black men and women so not only are we calling for justice for Trayvon.” His rant only continued, “We can make a citizen’s arrest when the government will not do their job according to the Constitution.” “Factually… that doesn’t make any sense,” Cooper replied, but Muhammad did not want to hear it. “I don’t obey the white man’s law,” he replied, after citing he was in accordance with the constitution, but he went on and here’s the kicker, to tell Anderson Cooper “you don’t care about Trayvon’s family.”
