Chris Brown loves his infamy

The R&B star faces possible jail time for a probation violation

Chris Brown (AKA the modern-day Ike Turner) apparently loves his infamy, tweeting on Monday, “I like being the person everyone hates. Makes life exciting.” Well, good for Chris Brown. That is totally an appropriate thing to post on Twitter mere hours before appearing in court for a probation review due to the fact that prosecutors believe community service records were doctored and that Chris Brown violated the terms of his probation.

Chances are Chris Brown probably didn’t complete the required amount of community service hours. He’s too busy bar brawling, throwing temper tantrums and posting illicit pictures on Instagram in the never ending love triangle between Chris Brown, Rihanna and Karreuche Tran (girl, you’re in danger. Run!) to be bothered to serve that slap-on-the-wrist of a punishment he received for the felony assault of Rihanna in 2009.

Here’s the main problem: Chris Brown thinks he’s awesome. Chris Brown thinks he’s repentant. Chris Brown thinks that everyone hates him. It would be great if any of those things were actually true, but they aren’t. For every person who finds Chris Brown to be an insufferable waste of space, there are two who think he’s great. Chris Brown has Twitter followers who claim they’d love to be assaulted by him. Despite all of the terrible things he has done, Chris Brown is adored beyond comprehension. The fact that Chris Brown thinks his life is just terrible (due to all those pesky problems he caused himself by making douchebaggery his way of life) is laughable. If Chris Brown were properly reviled, he would have no career, two beautiful women wouldn’t be fighting for his right hook and he’d be in prison where he belongs.

For now, Chris Brown is free to continue his booze-and-brawl tour while the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office investigates whether or not he violated his probation. If so, Chris Brown could be facing possible jail time. Another hearing has been set for July.

396 arrests- only in Chicago

Woman released to undergo treatment after 396th arrest

396 arrests- only in Chicago, folks! Shermain Miles, 51, has racked up 396 arrests in 35 years. That’s got to be some kind of record (Amanda Bynes you need to catch up!). Shermain Miles has a criminal record that includes multiple felonies and misdemeanors, which include assault, armed robbery, public drinking, petty theft, drug possession, prostitution and multiple parole violations.(At this point, everything the woman does must actively be a parole violation.)

Miles, who seemed particularly nonplussed about the 396 arrests, appeared in a Chicago courtroom on Monday to plead guilty to attacking a city alderman. Miles has been housed at the Logan Correctional Center since December, when the attack on Alderman James Cappelman violated her parole. Before that Miles had served three years for armed robbery. Somehow though, despite (let’s say it again, in case the sheer audacity hasn’t sunk in) 396 arrests, the judge agreed to time served for the assault since Shermain Miles agreed to undergo substance abuse and mental health treatment programs.

“All of us are reaching out to you and offering you, maybe for the first time in your life, a hand, OK?” Judge Peggy Chiampas told Shermain Miles. “But you’ve got to reach out and grab all of our hands as well.” Um, it seems pretty certain that someone has reached out to Shermain Miles, oh, just a ballpark figure, 396 other times, for those 396 arrests in which she is still out, at this very moment, terrorizing normal, law-abiding Chicagoans ( few-and-far between, but they do exist).

Seriously, Chicago, maybe it’s time for you to embrace the “3 Strikes and You’re Out” law, because some people need to be permanently benched.

Jack Nicholson doesn't allow people to root for the other team

Maria Menunos removed from Lakers game for wearing Celtics jersey

Jack Nicholson is a Hollywood legend and as everyone knows, one of the world’s biggest L.A. Lakers fans. Jack Nicholson can be found courtside at every home game and it was once widely rumored that there was a stipulation in his contract that required movie studios to schedule his scenes around the Lakers games. So, suffice it to say, Jack Nicholson is serious about basketball.

Maria Menunos, the “Extra” show host, found this out the hard way when Jack Nicholson had her ejected from a recent game between the L.A. Lakers and the Boston Celtics. Menunos, who is a die-hard Celtics fan, was sporting the team’s jersey, which drew ire from the all-powerful Jack Nicholson.

During a recent interview with Conan O’Brien, Menunos shared how she was escorted out by security guards at Jack Nicholson’s behest, stating, “These guys come and pull us out of courtside. I’m like, ‘What is going on?’” Apparently Jack Nicholson appeared, laughing and made it known that he was the reason for their impromptu dismissal. According to Menunos, Jack Nicholson called Lakers owner Jerry Buss and complained and, well… there’s no messing with Jack Nicholson.

The legendary actor also disappointed another starlet recently, when he refused to take a picture with “The Vampire Diaries” Nina Dobrev when she sat near him at the game. Dobrev took to Twitter to tell the world how disappointed she was, but something tells us that Jack Nicholson probably doesn’t care if he disappoints anyone who isn’t worthy of his time. Apparently Dobrev should be lucky she was allowed to remain in his presence at all.

Jack Nicholson is also no stranger to fighting with the refs and players on the opposing team, even marching onto the court to express his displeasure. If you plan on taking in a game at the Staples Center anytime soon, make sure you’re rooting for the Lakers, or steer clear of Jack Nicholson. You probably won’t get to see who wins.

Trayvon Martin murder trial jury selection begins

Over 500 people have received summonses

Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman on February 26, 2012. George Zimmerman has always maintained that he shot Trayvon Martin in the chest at close range out of self-defense, but the rest of the world isn’t so certain. Finally, after more than a year, the jury selection began for the Trayvon Martin murder trial began this morning in a Florida courthouse.

Trayvon Martin’s killer, George Zimmerman, met with potential jurors in a packed Florida courtroom. Five hundred people have received summonses for one of the most high-profile cases in recent history and 100 of them reported to the courthouse Monday. The defense and prosecution in the Trayvon Martin murder trial are looking for six jurors (and a few alternates) and the jury selection is expected to take two weeks.

George Zimmerman has pled not-guilty to second-degree murder of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman, who had been appointed a member of the neighborhood watch in a gated community, witnessed Trayvon Martin walking in the rain inside the neighborhood. Zimmerman called the police and alerted them to Trayvon Martin’s presence. After the phone call to the police ended, a physical altercation erupted between Trayvon Martin and Zimmerman. When police arrived, Trayvon Martin was dead and Zimmerman had two lacerations on the back of his head. After five hours of questioning over the death of Trayvon Martin, he was released without being charged.

However, mass public outcry over racial motivations, the police investigation and Florida’s “Stand Your Ground “ law led to demands for Zimmerman’s arrest. Less than a month later, charges were filed against Zimmerman and he was later released on a $1 million bond as he awaited trial.

Trayvon Martin had a disciplinary record at his high school, where he had been suspended at the time of his death. Zimmerman has a record of assault, resisting arrest and domestic abuse. Witness reports vary with some stating that Trayvon Martin had Zimmerman pinned to the ground and attacking. Other witnesses say that it was Zimmerman who had pinned Trayvon Martin down, and that Martin was crying for help. Another witness was found to have lied under oath. On top of that, cries for help can be heard in the background of the recorded 911 phone call, although the defense claims the cries came from Zimmerman, while the prosecution claims the cries are from Trayvon Martin. Neither the FBI, nor audio specialists have been able to confirm whose voice is heard on the recording.

The media frenzy surrounding the trial is only set to increase once jury selection concludes. If found guilty of the second-degree murder of Trayvon Martin, Zimmerman faces up to 25 years in prison.

Edward Snowden hiding out in Hong Kong

Whistleblower faces possible extradition

Edward Snowden, America’s newest whistleblower, is currently hiding out in Hong Kong, though it is thought the Obama administration will try to use the Special Administrative Region agreement to extradite him. Edward Snowden was catapulted to international fame after he leaked top-secret documents revealing the U.S. government’s surveillance programs, becoming one of the most prolific whistleblowers in the country’s history.

Even more startling is Edward Snowden’s complete honesty and determination in providing his personal details as well as sharing his reasons for leaking the documents from his Hong Kong hotel room hideout.

In an interview with “The Guardian,” Edward Snowden stated, “I have no intention of hiding who I am because I know I have done nothing wrong.” Edward Snowden also stated his goal was to let Americans know the extent to which they are being monitored in all forms of communication.

Edward Snowden has a long and varied history with the government. Edward Snowden is a former employee of the CIA and was most recently employed by the NSA, working for various defense contractors, including Booz Allen Hamilton. Edward Snowden enjoyed a rather privileged life making a yearly salary of around $200,000 and living in Hawaii with his girlfriend. At 29-years-old, Edward Snowden was incredibly talented and successful, and without a second thought, he has abandoned that life to go on the run.

In what sounds like a scene from a political thriller, Edward Snowden knows the U.S. government is looking for him, knows what they are capable of ,the technology and resources they have at their disposal and that it’s only a matter of time before they locate him. He anticipates that he will never see his home again and that he “will be made to suffer his actions.” He pads his door with pillows to prevent being spied on and covers his computer when entering passwords and information to prevent any hidden cameras the NSA might plant. Edward Snowden has given up a normal life and become a prisoner in his hotel room.

Edward Snowden told reporters, “I’m willing to sacrifice all of that because I can’t in good conscience allow the US government to destroy privacy, internet freedom and basic liberties for people around the world with this massive surveillance machine they’re secretly building.”

Right now the question is whether or not Edward Snowden can be extradited back to the U.S. and if so, what penalties he will face (a life-sentence is a possibility). As for Edward Snowden, he hopes to seek asylum in Iceland, but whether or not he can apply while still in Hong Kong and whether he can make the journey without being caught remains to be seen.

Neil Patrick Harris hosts Tony Awards

Fourth time’s the charm as 2013 Tony Awards show host

Neil Patrick Harris is truly legen-wait for it-dary as an awards show host. Neil Patrick Harris hosted Sunday night’s Tony Awards for the fourth time and offered an amazing performance comparable to many of Broadway’s brightest. The Tony Awards started off with a spectacular performance so lavish that Neil Patrick Harris joked, “Well, that’s our budget—good night!”

Neil Patrick Harris, originally known for his role in “Doogie Howser,” has come a long way, proving that he is one of the most talented men in Hollywood and shows no signs of stopping. His role as womanizing Barney Stinson on “How I Met Your Mother” steals the show from his costars, and let’s not forgets his epic cameos in the “Harold and Kumar” franchise. Neil Patrick Harris is a quadruple threat in the entertainment industry. That’s right: he can sing, dance, act and is a highly skilled prestidigitator. Neil Patrick Harris sits as President of the Board of Directors at Hollywood’s infamous Magic Castle, so all those snazzy magic tricks he performs are just another skill in his arsenal of talent.

At last night’s Tony Awards, Neil Patrick Harris looked comfortable and confident for the duration of the broadcast which included several numbers for the star, one of which featured everyone’s favorite cameo artist, Mike Tyson. Despite all the bravado, Neil Patrick Harris admits to being a perfectionist, telling reporters, “I’m constantly second-guessing and trying to one-up myself. I guess at the same time, when I would get super-insecure before, I would think it was the end of the world. Now I know that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and that everything will be OK.”

Now, here’s to hoping that Neil Patrick Harris hosts the 2014 Academy Awards.

Star Wars:Episode VII production date revealed

Filming set to begin January 2014

“Star Wars: Episode VII,” the highly anticipated next entry into the classic film series now has a production date. Ever since Disney acquired Lucasfilm for $4 billion in October, Star Wars fans have eagerly awaited news of “Star Wars: Episode VII.” News broke early Saturday that “Star Wars: Episode VII” will begin production in London in January 2014.

Director J.J. Abrams (of “Lost” and the “Star Trek” reboot fame) is helming “Star Wars: Episode VII” and told reporters, “The Franchise is so massive and so important to people. I think the key to moving forward on something like this is honoring but not revering what came before.”

Die-hard fans should have something to look forward to with Abrams breathing new life in “Star Wars: Episode VII” (and possibly the two other additions Disney has planned) as many had grown weary of the of creator George Lucas’ most recent installments, noting the stilted dialogue and contrived plotlines, not to mention the infamous Jar Jar Binks who managed to infuriate every person who watched the films.

Even better news for fans is that  original cast  members Carrie Fisher, Mark Hammill and Harrison Ford have reportedly  signed on to star in “Star Wars: Episode VII.” All other details are still up in the air, or being heavily guarded by Disney, but one thing is certain: “Star Wars: Episode VII” is in great hands.

Sports

Amputee brawl

Don’t let a lack of limbs keep you down

Amputee brawl- well, now we’ve seen everything. Never claim that amputees aren’t like everyone else. They can lead full lives, play sports and become soccer hooligans in a free-for-all amputee brawl.

What was supposed to be a charity soccer match played by amputees (seemingly sweet and inspirational) quickly went south when one of the amputees tripped an opposing team member which led to an embarrassing amputee brawl that was soon joined by some able-bodied spectators. Punches were thrown, people were kicked (by artificial appendages, of course) and the referees were unable to restore order during the biggest (and possibly only) amputee brawl in history.

We knew British soccer firms were rough and tumble, but apparently they’ve got nothing on the German amputee league.

Jennifer Love Hewitt announces pregnancy

Starlet and co-star boyfriend are thrilled

Jennifer Love Hewitt, notoriously unlucky in love starlet, announced her pregnancy earlier today. Jennifer Love Hewitt and co-star Brian Hallisay are expecting their first child and though no due date has been announced, insiders reveal that Hewitt is about three months along in her pregnancy.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Hallisay play husband and wife on their hit television show “The Client List.” However, it may come as a surprise to many that the Jennifer Love Hewitt and Hallisay are together in real life. The duo quietly began dating in 2012 and obviously the relationship is flourishing.

This is great news for Jennifer Love Hewitt who has been known for a string of failed relationships including a fling with John Mayer (always a good choice) and a broken engagement to Ross McCall. Soon after her engagement ended, Jennifer Love Hewitt became the poster girl for the insecure, clingy girlfriend, even being publicly admonished by Adam Levine of Maroon 5. That tragic tale came to a close when Jennifer Love Hewitt dated actor Jamie Kennedy (desperate times call for desperate measures), which was the last public relationship she had.

However, it seems as though those days are long behind Jennifer Love Hewitt, now that she has a hit show, a fabulous boyfriend and a bouncing baby on the way. Through their reps the couple released a statement saying, “This is a wonderful time and we are looking forward to starting our family together.”

Daniel Radcliffe on fatherhood

Harry Potter star wants to start a family ASAP

Daniel Radcliffe, star of the international box office breaking “Harry Potter” franchise, wants more out of life than being a movie star. Daniel Radcliffe has announced his desire to be a father and he wants it to happen as soon as possible.

“I like the idea of being a youngish parent so I’ve got energy to play football even though they’ll be better than me by the time they’re four,” Daniel Radcliffe said in a recent interview.

Daniel Radcliffe himself rose to fame playing Harry Potter at 11-years old. It was a role he played for over a decade and though ever grateful for the opportunity to be associated with such a successful series, Daniel Radcliffe has spent the past few years trying to break away from the character. Now, it seems, that Daniel Radcliffe has found acclaim outside of the franchise; he is ready to set his sights on personal matters.

Daniel Radcliffe is currently single and although he does not know “when or who,” he definitely knows he wants to have children before he turns 30. Daniel Radcliffe claims this desire stems from many of the close friends with whom he grew up having started families and seeing the stability it has brought to their lives.

“I’ve grown up around lots of people who were having kids when I knew them, because a lot of them were a lot older than me,” Daniel Radcliffe said. “And I saw the wonderful change in them. I see that it gives you a sense of purpose that up till now I only really get from work. I want that.”

However, don’t expect to see any tiny wizards whizzing about once Daniel Radcliffe becomes a father. He plans on supporting his children’s endeavors, but will not push them into the film industry. For now, the star just has to work on finding the right woman to make the goal possible.
