Despite the news, Zohn is set to run in NYC marathon.
Ethan Zohn, winner of Survivor: Africa, learned recently that this Hodgkin’s lymphoma has returned. The cancer has been in remission for almost two years, but Zohn has not be discouraged by the news.
Zohn was first diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and went through months of chemotherapy. He told People Magazine that this time, it is primarily in his lungs, “but that it’s good that it’s not all over my body.
Zohn will begin a new form of chemotherapy called SGN-35, that will target cancerous cells. After treatment, he will then proceed with a stem-cell transplant.
Despite the return of his cancer, Zohn is still planning to participate in the New York City Marathon on November 6th to raise money for his Grassroot Soccer Organzation.
He said: “The doctors think I’m crazy but they gave me the okay. Cancer isn’t going to slow me down. I want people to know that you can still live a fulfilled life and move forward.” Zohn, according to family and friends, is remaining positive.
