Chuck Pagano fills void left by Jim Caldwell

Chuck Pagano, Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, has been named head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

The official Indianapolis Colts site reports that Pagano has been named the Colts’ 11th head coach. Pagano, 51, boasts 28 years coaching experience and is responsible for the Ravens’ third-rated 2011 defense.

“Chuck has done a great job,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has said of Pagano. “Chuck is a great coach. It’s more of a peer relationship in a lot of ways at this level, and they’ve (coaches and players) done a great job working together. Chuck is a great example of that. Obviously, it’s been reflected in the way those guys have played.”

As we reported earlier this month, Colts former head coach Jim Caldwell was fired following a disappointing 2-14 season.
