Shaun White injures ankle during practice at Winter X Games

Shaun White injured his left ankle on Thursday during a practice run at Buttermilk Mountain.

The Denver Post reports that White injured his ankle white practicing on the superpipe. White’s ankle was examined by medics onsite before he limped off to the medical tent. White’s condition was not immediately known.

As the Post reports, White was a part of the X Games tribute Wednesday night to the late Sarah Burke, who passed away earlier this month due to injuries sustained while practicing for the X Games.

“This Winter X is going to be in her spirit and in her memory,” ESPN host and X Games commentator Sal Masekela said. “As hard as it is to lose someone, we in the action sports community do have this small benefit of being able to grieve together and really collectively celebrate the life of someone like Sarah Burke.”
