Billboard reports that “Man or Muppet” is one of two original songs that have been nominated for this year’s Academy Awards.
“Real in Rio” from the movie “Rio” was nominated (featuring music by Sergio Mendes and Carlinhos Brown and lyrics by Siedah Garrett), but “Man or Muppet” is the surprise nominee. “Man or Muppet” was penned by one-half of the comedy duo Flight of the Conchords, Bret McKenzie, and serves as the revelatory and inspirational show-stopper.
