Joran van der Sloot admits to killing woman in Peru

Joran van der Sloot pleaded guilty to the murder of Stephany Flores on Wednesday.

MSNBC reports that van der Sloot pleaded guilty to the 2010 murder of Flores in Lima, Peru. As we reported last week, the plea is part of a strategy to reduce van der Sloot’s prison sentence.

The murder of Flores occurred five years to the day of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance. Holloway, then 19, disappeared while on a trip to Aruba in 2005. Van der Sloot has long been a suspect in Holloway’s disappearance, but has not been charged.

As we reported last week, if van der Sloot is released from jail, he will likely be sought by the FBI.
