AL.com reports that Malzahn is leaving Auburn University to become the head coach at Arkansas State. Malzahn made $1.3 million a year at Auburn, but is reportedly expected to bring in $850,000 at Arkansas State. Malzahn will be replacing Hugh Freeze.

A press conference is set for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Arkansas State to “announce its new head coach,” according to the school, which invited fans to attend.

At this time, it is not known whether Mulzahn will stay with Auburn in preparation for the Chik-fil-A Bowl on New Year’s Eve.

Malzahn won the Frank Broyles Award as the top college assistant coach in the country in 2010.
