Greg Kelly accused of rape

Greg Kelly absent from Thursday’s “Good Day New York” following accusation

Greg Kelly, co-host of the morning show “Good Day New York,” was noticeably absent from Thursday’s show.

The New York Daily News reports that Kelly has been accused of rape. The woman accusing Kelly of rape, alleges that she and Kelly had drinks on Oct. 8 before he sexually assaulted her at her place of employment. The accuser did not report the alleged assault until Tuesday night.

Kelly denied the accusation Wednesday evening in a statement read by his lawyer, Andrew M. Lankler.

“Mr. Kelly is aware that the New York County district attorney’s office is conducting an investigation,” the statement said. “Mr. Kelly strenuously denies any wrongdoing of any kind, and is cooperating fully with the district attorney’s investigation. We know the district attorney’s investigation will prove Mr. Kelly’s innocence.”

It is unclear why the accuser waited so long to report the alleged assault.

Kelly is also the son of Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
