Eminem Signs Michigan Rapper Astray to Shady Music Publishing

Eminem helped a hometown native turn his dreams into a reality this past week.

Astray, a rapper/producer/singer-songwriter from Saginaw, Michigan recently inked a publishing deal with Em’s very own Shady Music Publishing last week.

According to Mlive.com, Em and his team will be working with Astray to craft his songs while he also inked a deal with Universal Music Group who Eminem and Paul Rosenberg partnered with in 2007.

Rosenberg took to Twitter to welcome Astray to Shady Music Publishing where he tweeted, “Pleased to welcome our new writer @ASTRAY_or_SHAWN to Shady Music Publishing with UMP.  Keep an eye out for him!”

Astray shared his excitement on Facebook as well and clarified that he is not signed to Shady Records, but rather Shady Music Publishing as a writer.

“I am very excited to be working with these two titans in the music industry and can’t wait to show you what we do from here!!” Astray announced on Facebook. “JUST TO CLEAR THINGS UP. IM SIGNED TO SHADY MUSIC PUBLISHING / UNIVERSAL MUSIC PUBLISHING. NOT SHADY RECORDS,” he added on Twitter.

Before signing to Shady Music Publishing/Universal Music Group, Astray established a track record that includes creating music for Maybach Music Group, Jon Connor, MTV and Atlantic Records. Additionally, he landed an internship with Eminem’s studio 54 Sound.
