Martial arts expert crosses boundaries and unties

Chuck Norris may be honored by having a bridge named after him. The Bridge will cross the Morava River, connecting Slovakia and Austria.

The Slovakian public has been given the rare opportunity to name the new pedestrian walkway, and Reuters reports that there are other potential names for the bridge such as the Austro-Hungarian and Maria Theresa, but they aren’t garnering the same admiration of Chuck Norris.

As of Feb 23, 2012, Chuck Norris has received 1,157 votes, which is roughly 74 percent of all total votes. Maria Theresa earned only eight percent.

The karate expert rose to worldwide fame in the 80s and 90s with films like “Delta Force,” “A Force of One,” Octagon” and “Lone Wolf McQuade.” Though, he is best known for his long running series “Walker, Texas Ranger.”

The final say on the name of the bridge will be in the hands of the Slovakian regional assembly, but regional governor, Pavol Freso, says they will defer to whatever the public favors through the online voting.

As of lately though, he has been humorously immortalized as the apex of all things “manly.”
