EA Access, currently available in limited beta on Xbox One, isn’t the value Playstation gamers are looking for, Sony claims.
EA Access is EA’s attempt to remain relevant in today’s gaming world. EA isn’t a favorite of gamers, especially for PC, due to their DRM and customer service practices. However, EA recently rolled out EA Access, which offers some of the latest EA titles and other bonuses for $5 a month.
Included in EA Access memberships are some of EA’s latest titles, 10% off digital content purchases, and a Play First guarantee, which promises gamers trials of upcoming games five days before their release.
It doesn’t appear, however, that the service will be heading to PS4 anytime soon, and Sony claims that the subscription isn’t worth the money, anyway.
“We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect. PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200 percent since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price. We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.”
At $5 a month or $30 for a year, the bundle doesn’t seem like such a bad deal, especially for those who are big EA fans. Some of the latest EA titles offered for free through membership to the program include Battlefield 4, Peggle 2, Madden NFL 25, and FIFA 14. Still, PS4 owners shouldn’t hold their breath for EA Access, even later on.
Elise, the first female character in Ubisoft’s latest installation into the Assassin’s Creed series is revealed.
If you watched E3 earlier this year, you’ll remember the trailers and gameplay shown for the latest Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed Unity. However, if you’re a stranger to the Internet, you may not have known that Ubisoft was pretty roughly criticized for not showing any of their female characters, playable or not.
Well, Ubisoft has announced their first female character for Unity, a “fiery templar” named Elise. As a young noblewoman and a very independent templar trying to make her way up the ranks despite the French Revolution, Elise crosses paths with Arno and a “bold” bond between them forms.
Whether or not this is Ubisoft’s attempt to placate a vocal minority or not has yet to be seen, but either way, high-quality figurines of Elise are available for pre-order, and the figurine can be combined with Arno’s. There is, however, no mention of her in multiplayer, which leads me to believe that she’ll be a sidekick much in the way of Ellie or Elizabeth./p>

Fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series and movie will be glad to know that soon, 24 new skins will head to Minecraft on Xbox 360. Included in this skin pack are Star Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax.
There’s no detail on a release date or price, but the previously released Avengers skin pack went for $2.99 on Xbox Live, and that pack included 35 skins.
Ever tried P90X? Fans of both the intense fitness program and Microsoft can rejoice as it heads to Xbox One.
Most fitness fans have tried P90X at some point or another in their quest for getting into shape. It’s an intense and sometimes insanely difficult way to get in shape quick–without any gimmicks or fad diets. Just a ton of really hard work.
Microsoft announced today that P90X will be heading to Xbox Fitness as an Xbox One exclusive for $59.99. Tony Horton will be pushing you to your limits in five all-new custom routines.
The game will require a Kinect, so purchasing for the Kinectless Xbox One isn’t much of an option. The Kinect will ensure that your form is perfect and your routine results in some serious toning.
P90X for Xbox Fitness will release in mid-August and will include a complete downloadable calendar and nutrition plan.
Gamers have been asking for a PC version of GTA V ever since its release last year. Rockstar has only hinted at an autumn release for next-gen versions of one of its hottest titles. The next-gen version will “… take full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail…” according to Rockstar Games.
The update will also extend to GTA Online, and the revamped version will offer previously released content for the multiplayer version of GTA V. Rockstar will also allow current GTA players to transfer characters and progress from their Xbox 360s and PS3s.
Maisie Williams is entering talks for the role of Ellie in the film adaptation of The Last of Us.
If you’ve watched Game of Thrones, you know who Aria Stark is, and you know that most fans of the show are even bigger fans of Aria. The little spitfire is one of the last Starks alive and is currently out for some serious revenge. It’s fantastic.
If you’ve played The Last of Us, you know that most people were big fans of Ellie and the direction Naughty Dog took her character in. An equally outrageous little spitfire at times, it seems like Ellie and Aria would hit it off in two seconds and then be best friends for life.
Or we could just… combine them.
Announced at SDCC, Maisie Williams, the actress famous for her Aria role, is currently in talks with the team behind the film adaptation of one of last year’s best games. Though game director Neil Drunkmann said that the voice-caster for Ellie would have just been 14, ideally, but hey. Maisie Williams is an incredibly strong contender for the role.
In the end, Naughty Dog will have final say in the cast for the film, which reassures me that we won’t have another incredibly stupid spin-off of one of our favorite games. Rumor has it that the scripted ending for the film will be different than that of the game, so there’s something even more interesting to look forward to.
What do you think? Would Aria Stark make a good Ellie, or would you cast someone else?
After lifting the 14-year ban on video game consoles in January, China will now have access to the Xbox One through China Telecom.
Microsoft announced back in April that they had plans to sell the Xbox One to Chinese gamers this September, and it looks as though that plan is moving along smoothly as Microsoft partners up with the third largest telecom company in China, China Telecom.
This morning, the company announced that 30 million consumers can sign up for an exclusive contract with China Telecom in order to purchase and play on an Xbox One, according to Reuters. The price point is still unknown.
However, it will also be available to the general public via retail–my thoughts are that the price point will probably hike up if Chinese consumers attempt to purchase without a Telecom contract.
With an updated gaze (was anyone else a little creeped out by the blank expression on their faces?) and looking a little less like a mess of polygons, the new taurens are turning out to be rather impressive, especially when compared to the old models.
The new textures are pretty spectacular and far less over-stretched than the originals. Blizzard attributes their ability to add more detail to the fur, hair, tail, and hooves to their new process and new texture-rendering technology.
The update is being done for the newest WoW expansion, Warlords of Draenor, which is set to release later this year.
What do you think? Which updated model is your favorite, and which are you looking forward to most?
A Little Big Planet 3 fansite has announced its closed beta and will be giving codes to members in August.
One fansite of Little Big Planet 3, Little Big Planet Central, announced that there will be a private beta beginning in August and that the website will give out a small number of codes to community members.
Distributed via private message, the codes provide access to a very limited closed beta. Little Big Planet 3 was announced at E3 earlier this year with the introduction of Sackboy and a few new friends.
The game is set to launch in November on the PS4 and PS3, and given that there’s a closed beta going on in just a month, I’d say development is probably right on track.
Be sure to catch this year’s Comic Con Wizard World shows.
Fans of the Captain America franchise, the second of which just hit theaters earlier this year, will be excited to know that Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie will be making guest appearences at Chicago’s Comic Con in August this year to sign
William Shatner will also be making an appearnce to moderate the 20th anniversary of the final episode’s airing. Six of the show’s stars will also be there, including Sir Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Levar Burtin, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, and Gates McFadden.
Stars of “The Big Bang Theory” Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar will be appearing to sign autographs and meet with fans.
Finally, Marvel will be revealing the Guardians of the Galaxy #17 Exclusive Variant Cover, and VIP attendees will receive a free copy. Artist Alvaro Martinez will be there to sign free copies, though autograph fees may apply.
