It’s the time of year every college student looks forward to. Spring break!
Spring break is a time to let loose, have fun and meet new people. Even though it’s a time to let your hair down, there are still rules that a responsible-spring-breaker should follow when meeting new cuties and when hooking up.
1.) Always tell friends where you are going, who you will be with, and when to expect you back.
Never wander off with someone you just met, especially when in a foreign place. If you are going to hook up, preferably go back to your own hotel.
2.) If you’re looking to meet someone new, don’t be that belligerent-drunk person, slurring all of your words.
It’s not attractive, and if anyone does approach you, it’ll be for all the wrong reasons. Also, never leave your drink unattended, and only consume drinks that come directly from the bartender.
3.) Do not become someone who ends up on late night Girls (or guys) Gone Wild infomercials. Is the free T-shirt really worth it?
4.) Don’t do anything that you wouldn’t normally do back on campus.
You may feel that spring break is a time to toss all inhibitions out the window on the plane ride down to Cancun, but just because something happened in a different area code, or country, doesn’t mean you’ll forget lowering your standards just because you were on vacation. Also, remember that a mistake made can still haunt you back home, like having unprotected sex.
5.) Always use a condom!
This should be drilled into your brain by now, but many still fail to properly protect themselves while having sex. Carry a condom with you at all times, just in case. College students are more likely to have unprotected sex while intoxicated, so carrying your own condom with you will leave you with no excuse on not using one.
6.) Do not have sex in the sand!
It’ll be like having sex with sandpaper. Probably not the sensation you would enjoy. Also, it’ll be extremely hard to wash the sand out of all your nooks and crannies.
7.) Don’t have sex in a hot tub.
The chemicals found in hot tubs can cause infections and can burn your most personal spots. Also, condoms are less effective in water, which can make you susceptible to an unwanted pregnancy and STDs.
So, when hooking up with that new cutie, you met at the swim-up bar, remember to be smart, protect yourself, and to have fun!
