Comic-con screens new trailer

Comic-Con is certainly the place for big comic book movie news, but yesterday also marked the debut of a new Hunger Games: Catching Fire trailer.

The Catching Fire trailer was screened in front of the Comic-con audience along with some of the cast members from the next Hunger Games film including Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Lenny Kravitz.

The Catching Fire trailer shows us what happens to the victors of the Hunger Games in this particularly dystopian future. Jennifer Lawrence’s character Katniss Everdeen has become a symbol of hope and strength for the working class people of the districts. Donald Sutherland returns in his role as President Snow to stomp out this growing flame of hope by corrupting and/or killing Katniss.

Like many sequels, the Catching Fire trailer shows us that the stakes will be raised, as Katniss must face off against other past winners in the next year’s edition of the Hunger Games. We see Katniss train for the games among some vicious blade-wielding females and probably the quarterback of your high school football team.

Another thing that’s featured in the Catching Fire trailer is the sad sack-ness of pint-sized Peeta, played by Josh Hutcherson. While Peeta and Katniss are all lovey-dovey in front of the cameras like any good celebrity couple, behind closed doors it doesn’t seem to be the case. In fact it looks like Liam Hemsworth’s character Gale is getting the real face time with Katniss; as Donald Sutherland watches (the President is ALWAYS watching us!)

As I mentioned earlier, it’d be a safe bet that President Snow is going to be putting Katniss through as much pain as he possibly can, as we see her loverboy Gale getting whipped in a later clip.

The Catching Fire trailer shows the return of Stanley Tucci as Hair-do Dolly, or whatever his character is. He announces Katniss by her moniker “The Girl on Fire,” and once again her dress goes aflame due to Lenny Kravitz’s magic sewing machine, or something. And don’t feel too bad for Peeta, he gets a flaming dress too!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire comes out November 22. Check out the Catching Fire trailer link below:
