An October launch date will be set for the new Apple tablet
The iPad mini has been given an October launch date, which is not what many devoted Apple fans were expecting or hoping.
With news that the iPad mini and the iPhone 5 would release in the same year, it was rumored that they would be launched at the same event.
This is not the case, reports AllThingsD.com. Although both the iPhone 5 and the iPad mini will release in the upcoming months, Apple has devoted their Sept. 12 unveiling event strictly to the iPhone 5. With much hype over the next generation iPhone, it only makes sense to save the iPad’s inevitable buzz and reviews for another time, according to John Gruber of Daring Fireball.
“I don’t think Apple would want reviews of both a new iPhone and new-size iPad appearing at the same time,” writes Gruber, “Why have another Apple product battling with the iPhone for the top spots in news coverage?”
The iPad mini is rumored to have a display of less than eight inches. The device also has been rumored to have more in common with the iPod Touch than to the original iPad. And, in Apple fashion, will be thin and small, according to the Washington Post.
Although the world is excited for the iPad mini, fans of the Apple’s innovative products will have to deal with waiting. The coveted iPhone 5, which will be available to buy Sept. 21, may satisfy Apple devotee’s taste for next generation technology.
Although the specific date has not been set for the iPad mini release, it surely is no coincidence that both iPad mini and iPhone 5 will be released just in time for Christmas shopping lists.
Apple has been quiet about the iPad mini, revealing little about design and dates. Maybe someone should ask Siri.
