SOPA debate delayed until Congress returns from winter recess

The SOPA debate has been put on hold.

The Washington Post reports that the SOPA debate has been shelved until Congress returns from winter recess. The SOPA hearing is expected to continue “early next year.”

The Motion Picture Association of America is backing the bill, while Internet-based communities and sites such as Reddit have rallied against it.

As we reported previously, Google and Facebook also joined the forces against SOPA, saying SOPA would “pose a serious risk to our industry’s continued track record of innovation and job creation, as well as to our nation’s cybersecurity.”

What would SOPA mean for gamers? Dustin covers that side of the discussion here.
