Cusack said Hollywood was too image conscious for Gabby

Gabourey Sidibe, most famous as her star role in the movie Precious, recently appeared on Andy Cohen’s show on Bravo and played a game he likes to call “Plead the Fifth.”

While playing “Plead the Fifth,” a game where the guests answer questions posed by Cohen but can plead the fifth on any of them; Gabourey Sidibe did not plead the fifth. Cohen asked her, “Gabby, you skyrocketed to fame with your Academy Award nominated performance in ‘Precious.’ You met every celebrity known to man during this very quick period of time; what celebrity were you most disappointed by when you finally met them?”

Gabourey Sidibe said, “This is not in a mean way, because I know she meant well. I met Joan Cusack who’s my favorite, favorite,” she said.  “It was before I became what I am, whatever, and I was at some industry party and she says, ‘Are you an actress?’ and I said, ‘Yea.’ And she said, ‘Oh honey, you should really quit the business. It’s so image conscious.’” Although Gabourey Sidibe believes that Cusack meant it in a good way, as a way to save her from disappointment, but still. As Madame Noire said, “Does anyone else find it odd that this warning about image consciousness came from Joan Cusack? She doesn’t necessarily have a traditional Hollywood look either.”

Gabourey Sidibe obviously didn’t take the advice to heart, and for good reason, as she is showing other girls out there, who don’t have a perfect figure, that they don’t have to give up their goals or lose a bunch of weight in order to achieve their goals.
