It’s safe to say that Carrie Underwood is undoubtedly the most successful star to emerge from American Idol.

With six Grammy awards under her belt and more than 95 major honors, Underwood’s foray into television has also been quite the success.

This past week, The Sound of Music Live!, starring Underwood in the lead role of Maria, received four Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Music Direction, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Special Class Program and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special.

The classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical also featuring True Blood’s Stephen Moyer and Broadway star Audra McDonald attracted 44 million viewers in its airings back in December.

Underwood originally emerged after winning season four of American Idol and has since become a true multi-media superstar. She first made her acting debut on the CBS sitcom, How I Met Your Mother in 2010 and has since earned achievements in music, television and film.

Underwood along with fellow country hit-maker and The Voice coach, Blake Shelton will represent country music at the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards that will air on August 25th.
