Gwen Stefani Releases New Solo Effort "Baby Don't Lie," First In 8 Years

Gwen Stefani is back with her psychedelic single, “Baby Don’t Lie.” The track was previewed earlier this week on NBC’s The Voice and is a modernized version of her previous work.

The cover art for the single features Stefani against a cloudy, blue sky background with vibrant colors that accent the otherwise black and white image of Stefani.

The track is the first solo effort by Stefani who has received worldwide success for previous works. The singer-songwriter sold more than 30 million albums across the globe for No Doubt. “Baby Don’t Lie” follows her 2006 solo release, Sweet Escape and was co-written with producers Benny Blanco, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella.

The track is the first to be released from Stefani’s untitled album which is set to release later this year. According to multiple reports, Stefani has been spending time in Miami with fellow Voice judge, Pharrell Williams to work on some tracks for the album.

Stefani also revealed in an interview with Los Angeles’ 104.3 MyFM that The Fault In Our Stars songstress, Charli XCX and Calvin Harris have also contributed to the new album.

The music video is the first solo video produced with No Doubt director, Sophie Muller in eight years and features Stefani aimlessly walking down a yellow path in polka-dot attire and is characterized by special effects and clones following in the distance with repeating patterns that make the track appear psychedelic.
