For all you fans of “The Office,” that have been wishing for the opportunity to combine your love of the television show and your daily office job, your wish has come true.
Dunder Mifflin Paper will now be available on Staples-owned Quill.com. The carton are priced at $34.99 and advertised as 20-lb. 92 bright and 100% fun, according to the website.
Wall Street Journal explained in a recent article about this idea of reverse product placement and said, “For decades, marketers have worked to embed their brands in the plots of TV shows and movies as a way to stand out in a crowded ad market. Nowadays, they are seeing value in bringing to life fictional brands that are already part of pop culture. That can be far cheaper than building brands from scratch.”
Could this be the beginning of a trend with television shows? In the mean time, we will have to wait to see if this idea is brilliant or if the world isn’t ready for reverse product placement.
