As CNN details, “Martha Marcy May Marlene” showcases a particularly powerful performance by Olsen, the younger sister of twins Mary Kate and Ashley of “Full House” fame.
As Fox Searchlight details, the plot revolves around “Martha, a damaged woman haunted by painful memories and increasing paranoia, who struggles to re-assimilate with her family after fleeing a cult.” Olsen, 21, is “sensationally good” in the role of Martha, CNN raves, “It's a punishing role but a star-making performance, a spellbinding portrait of a shattered young woman who has been systemically and cynically stripped of all autonomy, and who doesn't know if the pieces will ever fit back together again.”
