Dale Sveum is the new manager of the Chicago Cubs, according to USA Today.

The club confirmed today that Sveum will take over for the fired Mike Quade. To introduce Sveum, the Cubs will hold a news conference Friday morning at 10 ET.

Sveum’s experience as a major league manager originated for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008. In Milwaukee, he managed the Brewers for their final 12-regular season games. He has been their hitting coach for the past six years.

Sveum beat out Indians’ bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr., Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin and Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux.
