Gloria Steinem to be portrayed in upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic
Demi Moore will be portraying Gloria Steinem in an upcoming film.
Fox News reports that Moore will portray Steinem in an upcoming biopic about porn star Linda Lovelace. The film is currently shooting in Los Angeles.
A journalist and feminist, Steinem founded Ms. magazine in 1971 and was a prominent critic of pornography. In 1980, Steinem wrote a profile of Lovelace, including details of her relationship with husband and “Deep Throat” producer Charles E. Traynor. In the article, Steinem said, “the myth that Lovelace loved to be sexually used and humiliated was created by her husband.”
Lovelace died in 2002 at the age of 53.
Amanda Seyfried will be taking on the role of Lovelace in the biopic, accompanied by Peter Sarsgaard as Traynor.

Tuesday marks the day of the Iowa caucuses. Although the candidates will be spending the day in Iowa, trying to sway undecided likely caucus-goers, some are downplaying the importance of the Iowa caucuses.
ABC News contributor Cokie Roberts reports that the Iowa caucuses are “overhyped and, frankly, absurd.” Roberts explains that the media puts emphasis on the Iowa caucuses because the candidates do, “but, honestly, what happens in the Iowa caucuses is 100 people, at most, in many cases standing around somebody’s living room and convincing each other to vote for a particular candidate.”
For what it is worth, though, Roberts believes that Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney or Ron Paul will walk away the winner of the caucuses.
RT reports that Paul is currently in the leader in the polls. Paul confirmed his growing support-base, saying, “The enthusiasm is growing by leaps and bounds and crowds are getting bigger.”

Daily Mail reports that Franklin, 69, has become engaged to her long-time companion William Wilkerson. Franklin and Wilkerson are reportedly considering a summer wedding, perhaps in Miami Beach, with a reception on a yacht following the ceremony.
Franklin is considering Vera Wang, Valentino and Donna Karan to design her dress. This will be Franklin’s third marriage.
Franklin has lost 85 pounds, igniting rumors that she underwent gastric bypass surgery. Franklin addressed the rumors, saying, “Definitely not – and would not. I heard that rumour. I said, ‘That is crazy.’ It definitely was not the bariatric or, what is it, gastric… Yeah, I can’t even tell you the correct name of it.”
Franklin added, “It’s really not necessary to talk about one’s personal medical health.”

OSU football players met with new coach on Tuesday
OSU football is going to go through some big changes, if Urban Meyer’s words and first official meeting with the team are any indication.
Meyer had scheduled a 7 a.m. meeting with the Ohio State University football team on Monday, hinting that the OSU football players “need to wake up, that they need to start working earlier than their competition, that they need to sit up straight and pay attention,” AP reports.
As the AP continues, OSU’s season has been marred by numerous suspensions. Tuesday marks Meyer’s first official day as coach, after interim coach Luke Fickell coached his last game on Monday.
“I’m just ready for next year,” sophomore defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins said. “I’m anxious to turn the page. He’s just going to give us a brief talk (today) and take it from there. I’m going to be prepared for next year and get the job done.”

Researchers in Italy are debunking rumors that the Shroud of Turin is a medieval fake.
The Daily Mail reports that researchers have determined that the Shroud of Turin could not be a fake created by medival forgers. Instead, they say the Shroud of Turin was created by a supernatural “flash of light.”
Researchers from Italy’s National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development have spent years trying to recreate the Shroud of Turin and have determined that only something akin to ultraviolet lasers could have created the markings found on the Shroud. This is a technique that medieval forgers simply could not have employed.
The Shroud of Turin, thought to be the burial cloth of Jesus, measures 14ft by 3ft and depicts an imprint of a bearded man. The bearded man is believed to be Jesus and the imprint is believed to have beeen caused by a burst of energy that would have accompanied Jesus’ resurrection.
The Shroud of Turin remains a controversial relic. In 1988, radiocarbon tests on samples of the shroud at the University of Oxford, the University of Arizona and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology dated the cloth to the Middle Ages, between 1260 and 1390. Those tests have been disputed on the basis that they were contaminated by fibers from cloth used to repair the shroud when it was damaged by fire in the Middle Ages.
What’s more, the twill weave used on the Turin Shroud was introduced more than 1,000 years after Christ lived.
SOPA debate delayed until Congress returns from winter recess
The SOPA debate has been put on hold.
The Washington Post reports that the SOPA debate has been shelved until Congress returns from winter recess. The SOPA hearing is expected to continue “early next year.”
The Motion Picture Association of America is backing the bill, while Internet-based communities and sites such as Reddit have rallied against it.
As we reported previously, Google and Facebook also joined the forces against SOPA, saying SOPA would “pose a serious risk to our industry’s continued track record of innovation and job creation, as well as to our nation’s cybersecurity.”
What would SOPA mean for gamers? Dustin covers that side of the discussion here.
