In 2007, rap legends the Beastie Boys changed it up a bit with the release of The Mix-Up, an all-instrumental album. Now, the Beastie Boys are back again and are in the middle of recording their follow-up album, according to Billboard.com.
Adam Horowitz of the Beastie Boys tells Billboard, “We’re actually in the middle of recording it right now. We hope to have it out sometime next year. It’s a lot of vocals, a lot of words—very wordy. And it’s political, depending on what you call political. You know, if toilet talk and fart jokes are political, which they can be, in that sense yeah, very.”
Horowitz goes on to tell Billboard that the group will most likely not perform their new songs on the ' Get Out and Vote' tour. The tour’s purpose is to make sure registered voters were going to go out and vote this year. Approximately 70 million registered voters did not vote during the last election according to Billboard.
The Beastie Boys called many different groups to come out and support the cause; the ones who contacted them back will be playing. Sheryl Crow, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, Crosby & Nash and Tenacious D will support the Beastie Boys.
