Warning: Your boyfriend is making you fat

Jenna Bergen’s book, “Your Big Fat Boyfriend,” will help you shed the pounds while keeping your man.

Jacqueline Renee Smith

Do your skinny jeans suddenly make you feel not so skinny?  Your boyfriend may be to blame.

Studies have shown that women almost always gain weight when in a relationship, according to the hilarious, new self-help book, Your Big Fat Boyfriend by Jenna Bergen.  Your Big Fat Boyfriend, How to Stay Thin When Dating a Diet Disaster, helps ladies who have put on some pounds, due to her “big fat boyfriend.”

Jenna Bergen’s book is a wildly funny account of her own relationship with a “big fat boyfriend,” and how she realized that “you can’t eat like a man, and still fit in your pants.”

Inside Bergen’s book, readers will find:

1.) The hard truth on why you can’t eat like your boyfriend.  Not only does he normally eat like a pig, but it’s just naturally impossible to eat the same way and expect to stay thin.

2.) A guide to eating out.  Compromise is key when picking a restaurant; you don’t want to pick an all natural, vegan café when your boyfriend is craving greasy wings and potato wedges.

Bergen gives tips on how to find a place you’ll both like, and how to not give in when your boyfriend orders something that would contain more calories than you would ever need in one day.

3. Rules for ordering in.  It’s not necessary to eat the whole pint of stir-fry chicken that is exactly what will make you fat! Instead, pick a lighter option and create a small plate of the dish, that way you won’t be tempted to eat the whole thing if it isn’t sitting right in front of you, on your coffee table.

4.) Tips for grocery shopping with your boyfriend.  Bergen suggests learning the layout of your local grocery store so you know which aisles to avoid.  This way you won’t even be tempted to buy those calorie packed chips that taste so good but leave you feeling fat.

Also, swap some of your boyfriend’s snacks for equally delicious, yet more calorie conscious, snacks that he won’t even realize were switched.  He won’t care if you buy dark chocolate M&M’s instead of the regular ones, and you’ll be sneaking some antioxidants into his snack.

5.) How to stock your kitchen with healthy and delicious foods that are easy to prepare and that will please both you and your boyfriend’s taste buds.

6.) A guide to working out and how to stay active when instead of going to the gym, your boyfriend just wants to snuggle under the covers.

7.) How to “health-ify” your boyfriend.  How to make sure your boyfriend will live longer and not get diabetes from his dangerous eating habits.

8.) Finally, a list of recipes like “Power Pancakes,” and “Better-For-You-Burgers,” that both you and your boyfriend will love.

Jenna Bergen’s book will help readers stay thin and healthy while “dating a diet disaster.” So, if this sounds like you, pick up Your Big Fat Boyfriend, to help you fit back into your skinny jeans without having to toss your “Big Fat Boyfriend.”

To the readers:  Have you ever dated a dieting disaster? Or, maybe you are a dieting disaster yourself?

I can relate to this article. It is so hard to lose weight, and so many people struggle with their weight problems all the time. This group reminds me of my book that has recently been published. The main character of my book is overweight, and also has many issues and struggles with her weight. But in the end she overcomes them, and finally manages to lose the weight that she subconsciously put on to protect herself from being hurt by love, which I think, is something a lot of people out there tend to do without even realizing it. Being overweight is not just about the physical, it’s also about what is going on with a person’s psychological issues. The main character also comes to realize the importance of healthy eating and fitness. I am a regular user of Facebook if anyone would like to talk to me about my book, or about this subject.

I definitely gained weight from all the eating out I started to do when I started dating. I still can’t resist high end restaurants even though I have no one to go with.

A crash diet is where a person willfully restricts themselves of all nourishment (except water) for more than 12 hours. The desired result is to have the body burn fat for energy with the goal of losing a significant amount of weight in a short time. Crash dieting is not the same as intermittent fasting, in which the individual periodically abstains from food (e.g., every other day).

Oh, man, I can definitely relate to this.  Since being together, my boyfriend and I go out to eat all the time.  I’m content to just stay home and make food for myself, but he is obsessed with eating fast food for every meal of the day.  Both of us have gained a significant amount of weight, but naturally it’s me that’s complaining about it.
I can’t say no to eating fast food with him or else he gets upset and pouts.  He says it makes him feel bad if I have to eat a turkey sandwich and he gets a double cheeseburger and fries (which he knows smells so good that I often can’t resist eating half of them).

Trying to find a way to compromise is hard, because I often want to eat the same bad, greasy, fatty, sugary foods that he eats, and it’s hard for me to watch him eat them and not cave in and get my own.  I’ve been going to the gym regularly now, but that doesn’t help much when my diet is still so terrible

Helthify is the keyword, I think. Don’t let your boyfriend accumulate so much cholesterol in his arteries! You love him, you educate him.

Weight loss, in the context of medicine or health or physical fitness, is a reduction of the total body weight, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. It can occur unintentionally due to an underlying disease or can arise from a conscious effort to improve an overweight or obese state.
