So all you ladies out there, if you’re sick of singing Beyonce’s “single ladies” and want a man underneath your Christmas tree, try these five places to potentially meet someone over the holidays.
1. A Thanksgiving dinner drive
For all you do-gooder types out there, a Thanksgiving food or dinner drive for the homeless in your area could be a great place to meet people. Look for guys around your age and start chatting it up over the mashed potatoes.
2. A Winter Dance
Chances are your school may have a formal dance around the holidays. Take all your friends, dress up and you’ll meet other men there with their friends. Don’t forget to look for the mistletoe.
3. At a Tree Lighting or Concert
Everyone is just a little bit brighter at these events in honor of the holiday season. Tree lightings can be very romantic, and concerts can be very emotional. If your school or community is having a light-up night of some kind, it may be a great idea to spend an evening there.
4. Ice-skating
Admittedly, I would most likely be falling all over the ice for the majority of ice-skating, but if you go with a bunch of friends (especially maybe a certain crush) this could be a great time to get to know him more. Holding hands to keep each other up can be incredibly romantic and get you past the puppy dog stage.
5. In the snow
This is really for you cold weather girls reading this, but there’s just something about walking down your quad while snow steadily falls, all bundled up in your coat and hat that makes boys melt. If there’s enough snow on the ground, start up a snowball fight with that cute guy from English class. Chances are, he’ll definitely go with it and have fun too.
Our take
It can also be really fun to be single over the holidays. If you’re not ready or do not want to meet a man, any of these events are great to head to with friends and enjoy all the season has to offer.
Share some of your favorite places to go over the holidays. I personally love my church’s Christmas concert back home the weekend before Christmas and the first snowfall in D.C. is always magical.
