According to updates on the University of South Florida Tampa campus’s Web site, an armed intruder who was reported as being on campus at 1:50 p.m EST, has been taken into custody. According to the USF-Tampa web site, the subject in question was apprehended at around 3:06 EST by USF police. From there, they requested that the Tampa Police Bomb Team in order to respond regarding the suspect’s belongings.
The University of South Florida Web site also revealed that another suspect, wearing a black tank top, a cowboy hat, and, most bizarrely, carrying a black puppy and a hunting knife, was seen around 3:29 EST at Cooper Hall. University of South Florida is urging students to stay inside and lock their doors, and to report any suspicious activity.
Updates on the situation are flying at a rapid pace on Twitter, where one user recently asserted that USF police has “2 guys in custody.” The user’s update corroborated the accounts of the suspect wearing the black tank top and cowboy hat near Cooper Hall.

Update: According to accounts on Twitter, not only has the puppy been released from the grasp of the suspect, but the University of South Florida campus itself is all clear, and will resume normal activity. The official University of South Florida Web site has yet to update confirming these accounts
Update #2: University of South Florida Web site confirms that, at 4:23 EST, USF campus is all clear, and that students can resume normal activities. According to USF Web site, students should “Avoid police activity on Holly near Parking Services.”
