After two bizarre delays, Weezy finally makes his way to the big pokey.

Quick Hits would like to note the following occurrence: Lil’ Wayne is finally going to jail. We’re not celebrating, mind you. It’s just that, with the 8 hour dental surgery and a courthouse fire, it seemed like Weezy would never go to jail. But do you know who had a much easier time heading to the gray-bar hotel this weekend? Student activists and journalists. It might have something to do with the March 4th Day of Action. Here’s your Quick Hits:

Lil Wayne Goes To Jail

Like Ernest before him, Lil Wayne is about to go to jail. Finally. TMZ reports that Lil Wayne headed to jail today, after three delays in sentencing. First was because of Wayne’s protective dental surgery, while times two and three were due to damage in a courthouse fire. Though the “A Milli” rapper is supposed to serve a year in prison, MTV reports that Weezy will most likely be out in eight, due to good behavior. So no shivving anyone during baseball practice, mmmkay?

Student activist, journalists see police violence on Day of Action

What was supposed to be a peaceful day of state-wide student protest in California turned into a considerably more violent event, as both student journalists and activists have now recounted police assaults against them, as well as time in jail. Both The Huffington Post and The Daily Californian report different accounts of police action against students. The Post describes several accounts of alleged police violence, while the Cali interviews one student journalist who was arrested on the freeway that many protesters took to in order to express their displeasure with California’s state budget cuts.
