Hey guys, the chicken was so tasty. Thank you oprah.

Just got back from KFC in North Hills and the manager said they were done giving out chicken for the day and that the coupons that we printed from the website were forgeries. 

This evening my girlfriend came into my studio with the phone to her ear. Her sister (on the other line) was telling my girlfriend about the KFC coupon offer and how she redeemed it with no problem and that it fed her whole family. My girlfriend asked me if I wanted some KFC and I paused and said, “Not really.” I reflected back on the last time I was there… and how I felt after consuming the fried chicken (extra crispy), coleslaw, the mashed potatoes and (urp) gravy. I felt as if I’d made a poor choice of fuel for my body… (how your car might run if you substituted the gas for KFC gravy).  I don’t know Oprah personally but she seems to be quite skilled at self promotion. I don’t really mind if people want to eat chicken, I do. Though I feel it’s important to be aware (as I am) that when I sink my teeth into the crunchy skin and succulent meat, the animal that I’m eating could very well have been as close to me (emotionally) as any beloved pet and to thank it for its sacrifice to add it’s life to my own. A conscience-clearing-ritual I assure you. KFC chicken though? Crapola. I suppose it is true irony, that you disrespect the life of the chicken by killing it and preparing it in such a way that it makes you feel like shit and gradually kills you. Giving it away free is kind of like passing out suicide tablets to promote a more intelligent gene pool. I silently thank the chickens for their worthy sacrifice.

I work at KFC in San Jose and this was half baked idea to begin with. People come over and over the same day try to use five coupons after I tell them on drive thru when they you must have five people in the car. At window they want to argue that they called in the morning and manager said they could do it. Bottom line the coupons says good at “paticipating KFC’s” this means in plain English a store can refuse to participate at the drop of a hat. It also says one coupon per person
if you come back the fifth time that day for free chicken they are not breaking any laws by refusing your coupon. I hope there are not any dumb people who think Oprah paying the tab for a everyone free chicken. Many KFC’s privately owned franchisees.

I love how this turns into a racial conflict. I was telling my white friends just wait, The black community will flip this and stand on Oprah’s side just like why we voted for a black man and now we dont even care about him. Every Black person including myself at one time or another thought that Barack Obama was goona do something personal for our community, now if you stand back and listen to why the whites complain, It makes sense. They dont really care about his skin color, its not a racial issue with majority of the nation. Its America going down the drain over some ignorant black man that dont know how to run a budget. After reading thru some of these comments, I got my coupons out, looked at them and it does not state “they could only be redeemed IN-STORE, you could not use the drive-thru”. It does state that they be redeemed in person and unless I am wrong, my “person” drives my car. Just last Friday, I waited inside a KFC for 65 minutes for 2 two piece grilled chicken meals.  Was I happy?  you can bet not.  What I did do however, was go on line and took their survey.  Did it do me any good?  Probably not, but at least I made my feelings known to their corporate headquarters.

Hey Pierre - you sir, are an idiot! if you knew ANYTHING about the technology of the coupon printer, you would know that it is of course a very intrusive application, but spyware it is not! It does print a very unique “user ID” on each coupon you print - but that is for their record keeping to be able to eventually block user ID’s from printing future coupons that are PHOTOCOPYING the coupons because they are too stupid to know that there is tracking information on them!  Personally I have saved THOUSANDS of dollars on grocery bills by using the coupon printer - If you’d rather throw your money away on stuff that I’m getting free or almost free, be my guest, and you go ahead and keep complaining about the spyware in that coupon printer - I for one am sick of “payin’ the man”!

interesting though - how this went from being a blog about a possible riot at a KFC to a racist lady with no education, then to spyware, then to my post (whatever that can be classified as)

I think everyone who has something racist to say about anyone needs to grow the hell up. I’m a single black mother with a full time job, in school part-time and raising my son WITHOUT WELFARE. Free chicken! Lord… I thought the wal mart riot after Thanksgiving was bad.... The KFC down the road from my house was 10 times worse. Complaining about the long line, telling the workers to hurry up because they had things to do and people walking out to put their food in the car then they got right back in line for more free food. It was amazingly ignorant!

The only reason you are all fighting here is because we are all stressed as a nation. We are looking at Global Economic Collapse and you wont hear it on the news. KFC drama across the America.

Just so u all know, Oprah didn’t buy America lunch. KFC ate the cost for all the free meals that are being given out.

WOW I had no problem redeeming three coupons for the free chicken today. Went inside with my daughter and grandson and they just took the coupons, wrote void on them and put them in the stack with the others people had already redeemed. I asked if they were getting alot of them and the gal say “Ooooh yeah!” but they did have a note taped to the counter saying they would not accept any black and white copies of the coupon.

First of all ... forget the race issue ... it’s a stupid argument. Sylvia, it should go without saying that in order to redeem the coupons by more than one person, you should have gone inside anyways. As for the girl at the drive-thru window, there’s far too many that have poor customer service as it is ... I’m sure this one was no exception.  Now, since KFC wants to renege on Oprah’s promise, I hope she didn’t pre-pay ... and let KFC be in breach of contract.

I was wondering how far I would have to read to get past the racial shit and get to the stupid PETA person.  I LOVE KFC...I will eat it everyday this week because of GW comment.  So GW you just killed more chickens.....BTW I am healthy and not overweight....and don’t have the unhealthy, sickly vegetarian, vegan look.

i think this kfc caupon is scheme. they just use Oprah.  when we presented the caupon to several store here in Pinole and San Pablo, California all of them said the items are out. what i don’t understand is they denied the caupons, and yet issuing they are issuinga rainchek for the caupon. Or if they are out of the item they should display them in all their billboard. or the item might be available to those who are paying cash. do they ever think how expensive it is tom drive to their stoe(kfc) and just get nothing. I feel sorry for Oprah to get involve in this kind of business.

I just made a claim of what my experience was at the particular KFC that I chose to redeem my coupon,and that was not a personal attack directed to anyone, or their genetic origin. Because God created us all. And egually!
