It’s been a rollercoaster of a week for 17-year-old Jake Davidson.
First, he made the bold move of posting a video to Youtube in which he invited superstar model Kate Upton to prom. Then, in a shocking turn of events, she actually accepted his offer—tentatively. Now, Upton says she cannot attend his prom due to a busy schedule, but says she was flattered by the mere request.
Davidson, no doubt, feels the same way. After all, it’s not every day a normal high schooler gets Kate Upton to even consider a date, let alone check her schedule to confirm her acceptance of the invitation. Unfortunately, this romance just wasn’t in the cards.
Kate Upton told People Magazine on Tuesday that she could not attend Davidson’s prom due to a scheduling conflict.
“I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go with him or not, due to my schedule,” Upton told People. “I want to, but I just don’t know if I can make it work. But I really appreciated being asked; it made me feel really great!”
Upton said she was flattered by the Youtube video.
“When a guy has a good sense of humor and confidence, that’s attractive,” she said.
The saga began when Davidson posted a video to Youtube last week.
"I'm Jewish, 5'9" on a really good day -- and I can't dance. At all," Davidson said in the video. "You're Christian, 5'10", and that Cat Daddy video should have won an Oscar for best short film. You could say this is destiny."
He added: "It would mean the world to me if you came and I would do anything to make sure you get here."
Kate Upton upped the ante when she acknowledged the video in a tweet, and raised the possibility of her accepting the invite.
"You can call me Katie if you want…how could I turn down that video! I’ll check my schedule,” Upton tweeted at Davidson.
Upton called into the TODAY Show the next day, when Davidson happened to be a guest. The two had a conversation and Upton reaffirmed that she would check her schedule.
Unfortunately, it seems her schedule didn’t want to cooperate.
