Johnny Weir marries Victor Voronov
Figure skater Johnny Weir has tied the knot!
CBS news reports that Weir married his boyfriend, Victor Voronov, in a civil ceremony in New York last week. The pair will have a large wedding over the summer.
Weir tweeted the exciting news on New Year’s Eve, saying, “I’m married!” Weir went on to thank his followers for their well wishes, “Thank you to everyone for your well wishes to me and @vitya_zvesda! It means a lot to have your blessings! Mama loves you!”
Perez Hilton also congratulated Weir and Voronov, saying, “Congratulations! So happy for you both! Love is the ultimate! x” to which Weir replied, “THANK YOU HONEY! Big ♥ to you!”
Weir added in a statement, “I am so happy to have found my match. Finding someone to share your life with is one of the most important things a human can do and was preached to me by my mother. Victor is the epitome of a gentleman, as handsome as he is clever and loving. Our road to marriage has been a fast one, but one I never waivered on. I am honored to have been married in the great state of New York, and I hope more states pass laws allowing all Americans to be united through love and marriage.”
According to Voronov’s Twitter account, he is a Georgetown Law graduate, prepping for the New Jersey Bar in 2012.
